Jennifer James Davis School Principal, Trainee Program Director, Pointe, Trainee Class Jennifer James Davis grew up in Victoria, TX, and received her early dance training under the direction of Debbe Busby, as a member of Victoria Ballet Theatre. A 2002 summa cum laude graduate of the University of Oklahoma, Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Ballet Performance. While at OU, she had the opportunity to dance many principal and soloist roles as a member their resident company, Oklahoma Festival Ballet. Roles included the Dew Drop Fairy in The Nutcracker , the Lilac Fairy in Sleeping Beauty , Dawn in Coppelia , Fate in the televised production of Carmina Burana , and the Dark Angel in George Balanchine’s Serenade . She also participated in two international tours while with OFB, to Nice, France and Cancun, Mexico. She was a member of the Honors College and an OU Scholar, and her senior dance capstone was published in the first volume of The Honors Undergraduate Research Journal . Following graduation, she and her husband moved to Northwest Arkansas. Mrs. Davis danced on contract with the Tulsa Ballet in their 2002-2003 productions of The Nutcracker and Swan Lake , and then accepted a position as Ballet Mistress of Western Arkansas Ballet in Fort Smith. There, she taught extensively at the Academy of Western Arkansas Ballet, and choreographed and staged ballets on the company dancers. Her ballet, Brio , was chosen for showcase performance at the Regional Dance America Southwest Festival in 2004. She served in that role until the Spring of 2008, when she became a mom for the first time. In her 20 years of teaching, she has taught Wee Dance, creative movement, ballet, pointe, adult classes, conditioning, modern, worship dance, and Zumba. She has had experience with ages 2 through adult. She has also attended teacher training with Finis Jung at the Perry-Mansfield Dance Teacher Intensive in Steamboat Springs, CO, as well as being certified in Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT.) Jennifer is grateful to have had the opportunity to work with many lovely dancers in a variety of venues in Northwest Arkansas, and is grateful that the Conservatory is such a quality training ground for classical dance. She is thrilled to serve as School Principal for the Northwest Arkansas Conservatory of Classical Ballet and Director of the Trainee Program. Jennifer and her husband, Aaron, have three children: Alec, Emma and Asher.
