Trainee Program

Trainee Program

For the serious dance student, we offer pre-professional training and an opportunity to audition for our Trainee Program directed by our School Principal, Jennifer Davis.

The Conservatory Trainee Program is designed for serious students seeking more opportunities to hone their skills through class, rehearsals, and performance beyond standard recreational classes and the end of year performance. The Conservatory recognizes dancers who show technical promise, a drive to succeed, and an excellent work ethic by selecting them to be part of the Trainee Program. Selection into this program is conducted annually by audition in front of an adjudication panel.

In order to be eligible, dancers must be currently enrolled for the 2023-24 school year at NWACCB at a ballet technique level of RAD Int. Foundation or above AND a pointe technique level of Intermediate A or above. Dancers from other schools, who have had at least three years of consecutive classical ballet training, at least two years of pointe for ladies, and are at least 13 years old, may audition. If accepted to the Trainee Program, students from other schools are required to enroll at the Conservatory.

Once a Trainee contract is signed, dancers are required to be enrolled in a minimum of two ballet technique classes plus one pointe class, in addition to enrolling in the Saturday Trainee Class. Dancers accepted into the Trainee Program get the benefit of the dedicated Saturday Trainee Class and a special unlimited class rate at The Conservatory. Performance opportunities include The Nutcracker presented by the Conservatory, potentially a Spring Production, and the Spring Fanfare. Trainees are featured in all Conservatory performances. Trainees will also be called upon to represent The Conservatory at other dance or educational arts events in the community.

Dancers who are accepted will have the opportunity to look over the Trainee Contract outlining expectations, requirements, fees, and season calendar/performances before committing to the trainee program contract. Although we are the official school of the professional company, NWA Ballet Theatre, this program is solely affiliated with the NWA Conservatory of Classical Ballet.
